CLEVELAND – Beginning today, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) begins to oversee the day-to-day operations of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A).

N4A, which has been in existence since 1975, is a diverse educational service and professional non-profit organization.  Membership of N4A includes academic support and student services personnel who are committed to enhancing opportunities for academic, athletics and personal success for student-athletes.

N4A is led by President Bart Byrd, associate AD/Student-Athlete Services at Baylor University, President-Elect Jim Pignataro, associate AD for Student-Services at Michigan State University and Past President Joseph Luckey, director of athletics academics at the University of Memphis.

“NACDA is excited to have N4A join our umbrella of affiliate associations, as it was the missing piece to the puzzle,” stated NACDA Executive Director Bob Vecchione. “N4A’s mission is in line with NACDA’s to provide educational opportunities and serve as a vehicle for networking, the exchange of information and advocacy on behalf of the profession.”

The association serves as a liaison between the academic and athletics communities on college campuses across the country and continues to be committed to the educational pursuits of the student-athletes.

The 2013 N4A Convention will take place June 6-9 at the Hyatt Regency in Jacksonville, Fla.

Beginning in 2014, N4A will hold its first Convention in conjunction with NACDA, at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla.
