CLEVELAND -- The members of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) have elected Jim Pignataro, associate athletics director for student services at Michigan State University, to serve as the President for 2013-14.
Pignataro takes over the Association from Past President Bart Byrd, associate AD/Student-Athlete Services at Baylor University, who led N4A in 2012-13. The membership also appointed Kim Durand, associate AD for student development at the University of Washington as President Elect.
“N4A had another outstanding Convention in 2013, and we look forward to joining NACDA & the rest of its affiliates in Orlando next year for the first time,” stated Pignataro. “The Board of Directors is excited to continue the momentum into 2014 and we look forward to leading our Association during the upcoming year."
In addition to Pignataro, Byrd and Durand, the Board of Directors includes: Tierra Barber, director of student-athlete development, Baylor University; Jean Boyd, senior associate AD, OSAD, Arizona State University; Melissa Dawson, associate AD for student services, University of Tulsa; Todd Edwards, director of academic services, Michigan State University; Magdi El Shahawy, senior associate AD – student-athlete academic services, University of Southern California; Alyssa Gates, director of student-athlete enhancement, Marist College; Ursula Gurney, senior associate AD for academics and strategic initiatives, University of Missouri- Kansas City; Walt Holliday, director of academic affairs, Louisiana State University; Curtis Jones, assistant AD/academic services, West Virginia University; Joseph Luckey, senior associate AD for student-athlete support services, University of Cincinnati; Kimya Massey, director of academic services for student-athletes, University of Central Florida; Steve McDonnell, assistant AD for academic services, Colorado State University; Jennifer Quirk, assistant AD for academics, Fairleigh Dickinson University; Joe Scogin, senior associate AD and assistant provost, University of Tennessee; and Carla Winters, assistant AD academics and student life, University of Oklahoma.
N4A held its Annual Convention June 6-9 in Jacksonville. ESPN College Basketball Analyst Jay Williams served as the Keynote Speaker. Next year, the N4A Convention will take place in conjunction with the NACDA & Affiliates Convention week, June 5-12 at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida.
