CLEVELAND -- The National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) announced that Scott Boras, top-ranked baseball agent and founder of the Boras Corporation, will serve as the Association’s Keynote Speaker at its 23rd Annual Convention. The 2010 NATYCAA Convention will take place June 21-22 at the Marriott Hotel in Anaheim, Calif. The Convention precedes the 45th Annual National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Convention, which takes place from June 22-25 at the same site.

“I am honored to announce that Scott Boras will be our keynote speaker at this summer’s NATYCAA Convention,” stated NATYCAA President Carl Heinrich, athletics director at Johnson County Community College. “Mr. Boras’s marketing and negotiating skills are just two pieces of the puzzle that make him the top-ranked agent in professional baseball, and I feel he will have a valuable message to deliver that will set the tone for what will be a very successful Convention.”

Boras has 35 years of professional baseball experience dating back to 1974. He played infield and outfield with the St. Louis Cardinals (1974-77) and Chicago Cubs (1977-78) organizations. Prior to representing baseball players as an agent, Boras was an Attorney at Law, practicing as a medical litigator in a large Chicago law firm. Since breaking onto the scene as a baseball agent, Boras has significantly raised the bar in procuring record-breaking salaries for his clients. Representing 35 World Champions, three Cy Young Award winners, four Most Valuable Players and 18 Gold Glove Award Winners, Boras has secured nearly $3 billion in player contracts and negotiated the first $50 million, $100 million and $200 million contracts in MLB history (Greg Maddux, Kevin Brown, Alex Rodriguez).

Boras has been ranked 12th overall in Business Week’s Power 100, a list of the most powerful people in all of sports (2007); No. 1 among SportsBusiness Daily’s Top 10 Baseball Agents (2006); and was tabbed by SportsBusiness Journal as “the runaway choice as the most powerful agent in baseball” (2004). The Boras Team consists of four companies with more than 200 years of professional baseball experience and works to simplify the complex issues and on- and off-field decisions confronting players and their families.
