2005 Pepsi NATYCAA Awards for Program Excellence in Two-Year College Athletics Named

Cleveland, Ohio -- In conjunction with Pepsi, NATYCAA is pleased to announce the winners of the Pepsi NATYCAA Awards for 2004-05. The Pepsi NATYCAA Awards are given to recognize overall athletics program excellence by two-year colleges at the national level. Mesa Community College of Mesa, Arizona is the NJCAA Scholarship Division winner. The College of DuPage of Glen Ellyn, Illinois is the winner of the NJCAA Non-Scholarship Division, while Fresno City College of Fresno, California is the winner of the State Associations Division. Second place honors were earned by Johnson County Community College of Overland Park, Kansas in the NJCAA Scholarship Division, with third place going to Central Arizona College of Coolidge, Arizona. Second place in the NJCAA Non-Scholarship Division went to Mohawk Valley Community College of Utica, New York, with third place going to SUNY Delhi of Delhi, New York. Mt. San Antonio College of Walnut, California finished second in the State Associations Division, with Orange Coast College of Costa Mesa, California finishing third. Schools were allowed to score their top five sports for men and women at the highest level of competition in which they competed. Only NATYCAA members were allowed to be ranked in the final competition. The top three schools in each division were presented with their awards at the Pepsi NATYCAA Awards Luncheon, held at the 2005 NATYCAA Convention at Disney's Coronado Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Richard Wilson of Pepsi and Keynote Speaker Bill Raftery of ESPN and CBS Sports were on hand to make the awards presentations on behalf of Pepsi and NATYCAA. In addition to their physical awards, winning schools received $2,500 each for the general scholarship funds of their colleges. The second and third place schools in each division received $1,000 for their general scholarship funds. NATYCAA congratulates athletics directors Dan Dunn of Mesa CC, Earl Reed of DuPage and Susan Yates of Fresno City and their staffs and student-athletes for their outstanding achievements in winning this year's awards. NATYCAA thanks Terry Ryan of Pepsi for his support of the program. Ryan is a former two-year college student-athlete at the County College of Morris in Randolph, New Jersey.
NATYCAA is the professional organization of two-year college athletic administrators and membership is open to all two-year institutions from throughout the country.
