NATYCAA Elects 2008-09 Officers and Executive Committee Members

Cleveland, OH – The members of the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) selected Dave Evans, director of athletics at San Diego Mesa College, to serve as President for 2008-09. The announcement was made during NATYCAA’s 21st Annual Convention, which was held June 8-9 in Dallas.

“I am excited to lead NATYCAA during its 22nd year,” stated Evans. “I want to thank 2007-08 President Bob Myers (AD at Solano CC), for leading us this past year. We had another outstanding convention and I look forward to another strong showing in Orlando in June 2009.”

Also elected to serve NATYCAA during 2007-08 were 1st Vice President Carl Heinrich, AD at Johnson County CC; 2nd Vice President John Volek, AD at Sierra College; and 3rd Vice President Gary Broadhurst, AD at Mohawk Valley CC. Thomas Stewart, AD at Holyoke CC, and Scott Geddis, NATYCAA Past President and AD at Phoenix College, will continue to serve as secretary and treasurer, respectively.

New members to the Executive Committee include Vin Grassetti, AD at Springfield Tech CC in District 1; Troy Tucker, AD at Northampton CC in District 2; Jim Forkum, AD at Santa Rosa JC in District 8; and Dick McClain, executive director at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges, was an at-large addition.

About NATYCAA: Now in its 22nd year, NATYCAA is the professional organization of two year college athletics administrators and membership is open to all two year institutions from throughout the country. The Association is administered by NACDA, now in its 44th year. NACDA is the professional and educational association for more than 6,500 college athletics administrators at more than 1,600 institutions throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. More than 2,200 athletics administrators annually attend the NACDA Convention.


 

 

Additionally, NACDA administers 11 professional associations for the separate business units that report directly to the athletics director. NACDA also operates the U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup program, which honors the four all-sports champions in NCAA Divisions I, II and III; and the NAIA. The Association has an awards program that includes the James J. Corbett Memorial Award, the highest administrative award presented in intercollegiate athletics; and the AstroTurf Athletics Director of the Year (ADOY) Award, honoring the top-29 athletics directors by division across the country. NACDA also provides a daily web clip service, the NACDA Daily Review; and a bi-monthly magazine, Athletics Administration.
