Iowa Central, Herkimer and Mt. San Antonio Take The Lead In Pepsi NATYCAA Awards Program After 2005 Fall Competition

Iowa Central Community College of Fort Dodge, Iowa leads the NJCAA Scholarship Division in the 2005-06 Pepsi NATYCAA Cup Chase after completion of the 2005 Fall Sports Season. A second place finish by Iowa Central's Men's Cross Country Team, a 5th place national ranking by their Football Team and top twenty finishes by their Women's Soccer Team and Women's Cross Country Team helped propel Iowa Central into the Scholarship Division lead with a total of 51.5 points. Butler County Community College of El Dorado, Kansas ranks second in the Scholarship Division with 46 points and last year's second place finisher Johnson County Community College currently stands in third place with 41 points. Herkimer County Community College of Herkimer, New York leads the NJCAA Non-Scholarship Division with 55.5 points followed closely by William Rainey Harper College of Palatine, Illinois with 46 points and Mohawk Valley Community College of Utica, New York and SUNY Delhi of Delhi, New York with 39 points each. Herkimer used the strength of winning the Division III NJCAA Men's Soccer Championship, a top twenty finish in Men's Cross Country and top ten finishes by their Women's Soccer Team and their Women's Cross Country Team to take the lead in the Non-Scholarship Division at the conclusion of the fall sports season. Mt. San Antonio College of Walnut, California leads the State Associations Division with 90.5 points followed closely by Long Beach City College of Long Beach, CA with 82.5 points and West Valley College of Saratoga, CA with 74 points. Strong showings by Mt. San Antonio's Women's Golf, Soccer and Cross Country Programs along with their Men's Cross Country, Soccer, Water Polo and Wrestling Teams has helped propel them into their lead. The top three teams in each division at the end of the school year will be awarded a beautiful trophy at the Annual Pepsi NATYCAA Awards Luncheon which will be held at this year's NATYCAA Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana June 19-20, 2006. The top three schools will also receive a cash award for their institutions general scholarship fund in the amount of $2,500 for first place and $1,000 for second and third place.
This is the third year of the Pepsi NATYCAA Awards Program.
