Brenda Hampton is in her ninth year as Iowa Western's athletics director. Throughout her term, Hampton has increased revenues in every area of the athletics department and has rejuvenated fund-raising through several opportunities including advertising and season ticket sales. She has overseen the expansion of the Reiver sports program with the addition of men's and women's soccer, men's and women's golf, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor/outdoor track and field, football and competitive cheerleading.

During the NJCAA annual meeting in 2005, Hampton presented a bid to the NJCAA Championship Events Committee to bring the NJCAA Division I National Tournament to Council Bluffs and the Mid-America Center for 2007, 2008 and 2009. Serving as the tournament director, Hampton worked with more than 1000 staffers and volunteers in planning and organizing the tournament.

In her tenure, Hampton has seen 84 student-athletes named NJCAA Academic All-American and 51 have been named NJCAA All-American. Championship highlights during Hampton's tenure include, numerous Conference, Region XI and District Championships. The Reivers have qualified for and participated in several national championships.

Prior to her duties as athletics director, Hampton was at the helm of the Reiver volleyball program for 15 years. She compiled a 504-199 overall record (.717 winning percentage) while guiding the Reivers to 12 30-win seasons, three straight trips to the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships (1999, 2000, 2001) and numerous regional and district titles. In addition to athletic success, the Reivers excelled academically with nine Reivers earning Academic All-American honors under Coach Hampton.

Hampton serves as the NJCAA Region XI Women's Regional Director and recently completed a two-year term as a member of the NJCAA Executive Committee. Hampton also serves as the secretary for the Executive Board of the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA). Hampton was selected by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) as the 2008-09 Junior and Community College Central Region Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year. In November 2006, Hampton was selected to the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Hampton lives in Council Bluffs and has completed the Council Bluffs Leadership Class with the Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the Council Bluffs Sports Authority.

Hampton earned a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree from Chadron State College and her Masters degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
