"They're Just Not That Into You" - How to Solve Your Student Attendance Problem

Sept. 12, 2012

The elusive undergraduate student.

For many of us, we spend a great deal of time trying to get in to the minds of these fickle beasts with questions like: maybe if we give away free ponies they'll come to this weekend's game? Nah...scratch ponies...how about free iPads to the first 500 in attendance and luxury suite tickets for the remainder of the season? Reasonable request...no?

We have all been there and this process could drive the average marketing director batty trying to come up with the next big "thing" to mobilize and engage the ever-distracted student body.

The good news is that the word "average" has no place when it comes to the NACMA membership and the first #NACMAYP live chat event of the year will kick off the 2012-13 monthly live chat series with a bang!

Join the NACMA Young Professional committee members on Wednesday, 9/12 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Meaghan Brooks (Director of Community Relations and Fan Development at University of Oklahoma), Nicole Imbrogno (Assistant Director of Marketing & Promotions at Duquesne University), Sarah Munoz (Marketing Coordinator at Arkansas State) and Brad Wurthman (Associate Athletics Director, Marketing and Strategic Communications at University of Cincinnati) will share best practices and methods to keep students engaged and coming back. Participants are encouraged to submit questions and suggest ideas for implementation throughout the live chat.

Additional #NACMAYP Live Chat events will take place throughout the year. Stay tuned to the NACMA Online Library for upcoming dates, archives of past live chats and feel free to submit ideas and feedback at any time! Email me anytime at amber.lilyestrom@unh.edu or reach out via Twitter @AmberLilyestrom.

Thank you for your support of #NACMAYP and best of luck to you in your fall season!
