Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in sports management, communication, journalism or related field and three years of sports information related experience in Division I intercollegiate athletics (media, publicity, etc.); or Master's degree from an accredited institution in sports management, communication, journalism or related field and one year of sports information related experience in Division I intercollegiate athletics.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited institution in sports management, communication, journalism or related field and three years of sports information related experience in Division I intercollegiate athletics.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Demonstrated successful supervisory and management skills. Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and communication skills. Must have strong computer skills and knowledge. Must have ability to work in a culturally diverse environment. Knowledge of rules and statistics for each sport. Working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and NCAA rules and compliance as it pertains to media, publicity, etc. at the Division I level. Proficiency with word-processing and database software, Web site design and maintenance and familiarity with statistics software. Knowledge of and ability to use desktop publishing software. Knowledge and skill in publication production and journalism.

General Summary: This position's initial duties will include coordinating and directing the sports information staff; coordinating all athletic publications including but not limited to media guides, game programs, game notes, feature stories, and game caps ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of information; as well as other duties as assigned.

Job Duties: Coordinates and directs the sports information staff. Coordinates all athletic publications including but not limited to media guides, game programs, game notes, feature stories, and game recaps, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of information.

 

 

Supervises and coordinates the maintenance of accurate sports information files on all current and past sports teams, individuals and coaches. Maintains current team and individual statistics. Supervises and maintains an up-to-date photo, slide and film files. Coordinates activities surrounding home athletic contests including the hosting of visiting media. Organizes and supervises required statisticians and the staffing for home events.

Responds to requests from opponents' sports information offices and media. Coordinates advancing and staffing of away athletic events. Issues media credentials. Coordinates communication to various media to report on event/contest results. Promotes post-season honors for outstanding athletes, coaches and administrators. Serves as media liaison to conference and NCAA offices. Recommends fiscal requirements for the sports information office. Prepares budget recommendations and monitor expenses. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described.
