NACDA announces new partnership with Cushman & Wakefield

Nov. 7, 2017

CLEVELAND — The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced that it has partnered with Cushman & Wakefield to offer a conflict-free real estate strategist to NACDA’s full membership of 15,700 individuals and 1,700 institutions throughout the United States. Cushman & Wakefield’s model offers a single point of contact to athletics departments, providing full development oversight from start to finish including strategy, design, and construction.

“College athletics departments throughout the country are spending at an unprecedented pace to develop and renovate facilities for all sports,” said Michael Sessa, Executive Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield. Sessa and his partner, Craig Cassell, an executive managing director at Cushman & Wakefield and the global leader of the firm’s Education Practice Group, are leading the initiative on behalf of C&W. “Often times these multi-million dollar projects are planned and managed without the oversight of an experienced, third-party project manager exclusively aligned with the athletics department. We are here to serve as the athletics department advocate and effectuate three key outcomes on its behalf – reduce risk, save time, and save money,” said Cassell.

Cushman & Wakefield has provided real estate services to many of the nation’s most recognized educational institutions including Stanford University, University of Maryland, University of Utah, University of California, Berkeley, and University of Massachusetts.

“NACDA is looking forward to this unique partnership with Cushman & Wakefield as the landscape of collegiate athletics continues to evolve,” said NACDA Executive Director, Bob Vecchione. “The facilities arms race in this industry is undeniable, and as our members work to navigate the challenges of building new facilities or renovating/managing existing ones, having a worldwide expert in the real estate category as a sponsor that understands the financial aspects of these decisions will become increasingly important."

As a corporate partner of NACDA, Cushman & Wakefield will serve as an event sponsor of inaugural NACDA & Affiliates Fall Forum, November 12-14 in Boston, Massachusetts. The company will also have a presence in NACDA’s print and digital communications vehicles, including Athletics Administration magazine and the NACDA Daily Review.
