NACDA Elects New Officers and Executive Committee Members

Dan Guerrero Passes the gavel to Kevin AndersonCLEVELAND - The members of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) have selected University of Maryland Director of Athletics Kevin Anderson to lead the Association in 2012-13.  Anderson replaces Dan Guerrero, director of athletics at UCLA, who served as President in 2011-12. 

The passing of the gavel took place in conjunction with the 47th Annual NACDA Convention, which took place June 22-28 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas.

"I am excited to serve as NACDA's President for the upcoming year," Anderson said. "Under Dan's leadership, we had record-breaking attendance numbers at the Convention for NACDA and its affiliate associations and I look forward to continuing that trend with the addition of CoSIDA at the 2013 Convention."

Also elected to serve NACDA for the 2012-13 term were 1st Vice President Mike Alden, director of athletics at the University of Missouri; 2nd Vice President Jim Phillips, director of athletics at Northwestern University; 3rd Vice President Tim Selgo, director of athletics at Grand Valley State University; and Don Tencher, director of athletics at Rhode Island College, to the second year of a five-year term as secretary.  

Executive Committee members selected include athletics directors Rick Hart, University of Tennessee Chattanooga; Jim Knowlton, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Jim Murphy, Davidson College; and Tom Simmons, Ohio Northern University. The NAIA's Eric Olson, director of championships, will also serve a four-year term on the Committee.

The five administrators listed above join the following individuals on the Executive Committee - Southern Maine AD Al Bean; Rhode Island Associate AD/SWA Sue Bergen; Denver Vice Chancellor for Athletics Peg Bradley-Doppes; NCAA Senior VP-Championships Joni Comstock; Notre Dame Deputy AD Missy Conboy; John Brown AD Robyn Daugherty; North Carolina AD Bubba Cunningham; Santa Rosa Junior College Jim Forkum; Navy AD Chet Gladchuk; Pittsburg State AD Jim Johnson; New Mexico AD Paul Krebs; DePaul AD Jean Lenti Ponsetto;  Connecticut AD Warde Manuel; West Chester AD Ed Matejkovic; Quinnipiac AD Jack McDonald; Fayetteville State AD Ed McLean; Cal State Monterey Bay AD Vince Otoupal; Carroll AD Bruce Parker; Seminole State College of Florida AD John Scarpino; South Plains College AD Joe Tubb; Missouri Valley Football Conference/Pioneer League Commissioner Patty Viverito; Ferris State AD Perk Weisenburger; and Georgia Senior Associate AD Carla Williams.
