NACDA Elects New Officers and Executive Committee Members

Cleveland, OH - The members of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) have selected Joan Cronan, women's director of athletics at the University of Tennessee, to serve as president for 2008-09. Cronan was handed the president's gavel by outgoing president, Kevin White, director of athletics at Duke University, on June 11, in conjunction with the Association's 43rd Annual Convention, which was held June 9-12 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas.

"This organization has meant so much to me personally and professionally, and I realize I have such big shoes to fill," Cronan said. "I look forward to working with you and for you in the coming year."

Also elected to serve NACDA for the 2008-09 term were 1st Vice President Randy Spetman, director of athletics at Florida State University; 2nd Vice President Dave Roach, director of athletics at Colgate University; 3rd Vice President Dan Guerrero, director of athletics at UCLA; and David Stair, director of athletics at Evangel University, to the third year of a five-year term as secretary.

Executive Committee members selected include athletics directors Jeff Hathaway, University of Connecticut; Sandy Barbour, University of California; Gary Broadhurst, Mohawk Valley Community College; and Bridget Belgiovine, Wellesley College. Julie Bright, senior associate AD-Administration, Iowa State University; Lori Ebihara, assistant commissioner, Big 12 Conference; and Rudy Keeling, commissioner, Eastern College Athletic Conference were selected as at-large representatives.

About NACDA:  NACDA, now in its 44th year, is the professional and educational association for more than 6,100 college athletics administrators at more than 1,600 institutions throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. More than 2,000 athletics administrators annually attend the NACDA Convention. Additionally, NACDA administers 11 professional associations for the separate business units that report directly to the athletics directors.
