Responsibilities
The Center for the Study of Sport in Society, utilizing the power and appeal of sport; works locally, nationally and globally to identify and address social problems in sport and in society. The Center conducts research, develops programs that offer solutions, and educates and advocates on the emerging issues. The Director will lead one of the country's foremost organizations dealing with sport and social issues. The Director will be expected to provide leadership to the Center, set its strategic plan, serve as its primary fundraiser, serve as its spokesperson, leverage its resources, and continue to increase its resources by working with existing donors and cultivating new ones. The position calls for a strong commitment to social justice, improvement of race relations, reduction of domestic violence, conflict resolution and a proven record as a strategic thinker, excellent fundraiser, experience in building corporate partnerships, and organizational management. The Director should have worked or participated in one or more of these areas. Strong knowledge of the sports industry is a must. A strong commitment to urban issues is also important. The Director reports to the Director of Athletics and works with key university, business, and community leaders throughout the country.

Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business, Education, or a related field, 7-10 years administrative experience(supervision and development of staff, budget management, goals/deliverables focus, etc), Strong leadership skills and demonstrated leadership experience, Experience in fundraising and managing corporate partnerships, Demonstrated commitment to social justice and diversity; Athletic background, Extensive experience in educational community outreach, public speaking and group facilitation, Extensive work with media, Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Knowledge of core Sport in Society issues, and a high comfort level in discussing these issues.
