NACDA Announces Hiring of Former Intern Chelcie Abajian as Manager – Affiliate Associations

March 7, 2018

CLEVELAND – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced that Chelcie Abajian has been hired to the position of Manager — Affiliate Associations.

A former NACDA intern in 2014-15, Abajian will officially begin her duties on March 26. Her responsibilities will include overseeing the management of the International Collegiate Licensing Association (ICLA), the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA), the National Association of Athletic Ticket Sales & Operations (NAATSO) and the NAIA Athletics Directors Association (NAIA-ADA).

Abajian returns to the national office from Learfield Licensing Partners (LLP) in Indianapolis, where she most recently served as the brand manager for over 40 schools in Texas, including the University of Texas System and Texas A&M System schools.

"We received a number of qualified candidates and through the interview process, Chelcie’s skill set and preparedness were extremely impressive. Her experience with LLP, coupled with her previous internship experience at NACDA and working with ICLA, will allow for a seamless transition for her to return as a full-time member of our staff,” said Bob Vecchione, NACDA Executive Director. “We are looking forward to adding another former intern to our team who has since strengthened her abilities in the industry and will assist our Affiliate Associations in moving forward.”

A native of Commack, N.Y., Abajian is a two-time graduate of the University of Illinois where she was a student-athlete on the women’s tennis team from 2008-12. She received her bachelor and master’s degrees from Illinois in recreation, sport and tourism with a sport management concentration.
