Phillip McAlpinis entering his 6th year as Director of Development for Athletics and Executive Director of the Victory Club Foundation at North Carolina A&T State University. He is responsible for managing the overall solicitation of corporate and individual gifts to the universities athletic program. In addition, he redesigned and rewrote its corporate partner program for athletics and manages all aspects of sponsor fulfillment. Phillip led the effort to construct a state-of-the-art video scoreboard in the football stadium in his first year on the job. He also directs all sponsorship sales and game day programming for the scoreboard. He has increased sponsorship revenues nearly 800 % over the past six years. The Victory Club Foundation is a booster organization created to solicit larger dollar donors to athletics. He was able to more than doubled member donations in his my first year as Executive Director. He manages all affairs of this organization including its budget, solicitation efforts and all donor stewardship. Prior to coming to North Carolina A&T, he was the Assistant Area Development Director for the United Negro College Fund in its Washington, DC field office. There, Phillip was responsible for the solicitation of corporate, foundational, organizational and individual support of UNCF programs in its support of the 39 historically black colleges and universities supported by UNCF. Phillip was very involved in marketing before entering the world of development. He owned Focal Point Marketing and Consulting located in Greensboro, NC. He engaged in marketing consultation, sponsorship solicitation and program development for various media and promotional properties. He was also the President of The Historically Black Collegiate Coalition. The Historically Black Collegiate Coalition (HBCC) was a wholly owned subsidiary of Host Communications, Inc. This division was established to market the sports activities and events of our nations black colleges and universities. As its first president, Phillip was responsible for the development of its product line, strategic planning and development of all marketing materials. Prior to being the first president of the HBCC, he was the President and CEO of FOCUS Marketing, Inc. Phillip created this business entity from the ground up as a result of recognizing a market niche not being satisfied. He conceived and developed the first programs and properties built around black college sports that would attract national sponsors. He negotiated a company buyout by Host Communications, Inc. and was retained to serve as the first president of the new division. Phillip went to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received a B.S. in Business Administration. He is currently on the NAADD Executive Committee. |
