In his sixth year at The University of Utah, Doug Knuth currently serves as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. Knuth leads a team of talented people in the areas of fundraising, marketing and ticketing with additional responsibilities overseeing the corporate partner program through CBSCSP, athletics licensing/merchandising and is the primary liaison to University Development and Advancement. He is currently leading a $70 million athletics campaign focused on capital improvement and scholarship support. Knuth also oversees the sports of women's basketball, men's and women's tennis. He currently serves on the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Committee and is a member of the NCAA Division I Committee on Athletics Certification as a peer-reviewer.
Knuth came to Utah in 2005 as Director of Development to handle the day-to-day operations of the development office. He was soon promoted to Assistant AD for Development, then advanced again to his current position in the Fall of 2008.
Prior to Utah, Knuth was Assistant AD for Development at Michigan State for five years and was responsible for the annual giving program, as well as managing major gifts associated with the expansion of Spartan Stadium through suite and club seats sales.
He started his career in athletics administration and fundraising at the University of Connecticut, then moved to the University of Massachusetts, Ohio University and Michigan State before Utah.
Doug attended the University of Connecticut where he was four-year letter winner and captain of the tennis team. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration and continued his educational pursuits by earning two master's degrees - a MBA from Northwood University and a master's degree in sports administration and facility management from Ohio University.
