Jan. 3, 2008

Name: Travis Feezell
Institution: Macalester College
Position: Director of Athletics
Number of years in current position: Two
Alma Mater: University of Wyoming
Hometown: Omaha, Nebraska

Why you became involved in NACDA: I wanted to be involved with the primary professional organization for athletics leadership.
Favorite part about being in NACDA: The people ... no doubt!
Biggest challenge to working in athletics: It is ever-evolving ... this is both a challenge and a blessing
Greatest accomplishment to date: Staying sane with four children and lovely wife of 17 years. My family has allowed me to pursue so many challenges in athletics.
Most important skill you have developed in your career: Listening ... if you can't listen, you can't lead
Best advice you were ever given: Be patient
Most influential person in your career: Too many to name. Each gave a piece of their expertise to help me develop as a leader in athletics.
Where you see yourself in 10 years: Continuing to work in college athletics.
Advice for those looking to get into athletics administration: Get your foot in the door, learn as much as you can, do as much as you can and understand that it is not about you, but about the students that participate in athletics.

Dream Job: I think I've got it already.
Hidden Talent: Cooking ... I love it.
One item you cannot live without: A decent spatula
Who would you choose to switch places with for a day: A professional chef ... I think it would be really interesting to see what that day would be like.
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would you go: Greece
If you could attend one sporting event this year, it would be: French Open
Four people you would like to have dinner with: Anthony Bourdain, Mario Batali, Thomas Keller, Ferran Adria

My favorite ...
Place to eat: Jeffrey's Bistro - Laramie, Wyoming
Flavor of ice cream: Rocky Road

Musical group/artist: Depeche Mode
Childhood memory: First hockey game - Buffalo Sabres vs. NY Rangers
