Greg Sankey is currently completing his fourth year as an Associate Commissioner with the Southeastern Conference where he has been a part of efforts to reshape the SEC's governance, enforcement and compliance program. Prior to joining the SEC staff, Sankey served as Commissioner of the Southland Conference for nearly seven years, where before being named Southland Conference Commissioner, Sankey served as both assistant and associate commissioner in that office. He came to the league in 1992 after working as director of compliance and academic services at Northwestern State University, a Southland member institution. While at Northwestern State, Sankey coached the Demons' golf teams for two years, earning National Golf Coaches Association District VI Co-Coach of the Year honors in 1991. Before moving south, he was the director of intramural sports at Utica College in upstate New York.

A native of Auburn, New York, Sankey earned his master's degree from Syracuse University and his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York College at Cortland. Sankey and his wife, Cathy, reside in Birmingham, Alabama, with their two daughters, Hannah Michelle (15) and Moriah Elizabeth (11).
