Julie Cromer Position: Director of Academic and Membership Affairs Institution: NCAA

Julie Cromer serves as Director Academic and Membership Affairs at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), focusing primarily on development of academic policy and implementation of Division I academic reform efforts. Cromer has been an NCAA staff member for eight years and she currently serves as staff liaison to the Division I Committee on Academic Performance and the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet. In addition, Cromer manages NCAA partnerships and outreach to various academic and faculty organizations and associations.

During her tenure at the national office, Cromer has worked with several other NCAA committees, including the Division I Academic Consultants, who developed the current Division I initial-eligibility and progress-toward-degree standards, and the Division I Incentives/Disincentives Working Group that was directed to create a system of rewards and penalties based on team academic performance. She also previously served as director of the NCAA Division I athletics certification program, including oversight of the staff team supporting the Division I Committee on Athletics Certification. In addition, Cromer has been a liaison to the Division I Initial-Eligibility Issues Subcommittee, the NCAA Core-Course Review Committee, the Committee on Women's Athletics and the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse Committee.

Prior to joining the NCAA, Cromer was the assistant athletics director/senior woman administrator at Wright State University, where she was the primary administrator for seven varsity sports and was responsible for the university's athletics compliance and academic support services units.

From 1995-1998 Cromer worked at the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, where she began as an intern and ended her tenure as assistant commissioner for compliance and championships. Cromer also worked in academic support and compliance at the University of South Alabama and she is a graduate of Missouri State University.
