MOAA Board Application
CLEVELAND - As the professional development Association for minority athletics administrators, the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) is currently seeking candidates for leadership positions on its Board of Directors. There will be up to five positions open for the 2018-19 Board of Directors.
Since its formation in 2000, MOAA has strived to be a resource for those in the field of athletics administration and to serve as an advocate for increased participation and administrative opportunities for minorities in athletics.
As a member of the Board of Directors, an individual will assist with several duties to uphold the Association's mission of providing member services that address the needs of minorities professionally, emotionally, financially and physically in athletics.
These duties include, but are not limited to: the planning and implementation of the annual Symposium, which is held in conjunction with the NACDA Convention; active participation on monthly or bi-monthly conference calls to discuss the advancement of the Association and development of additional educational opportunities for the membership; potential service on various committees; attendance at one or two in-person Board meetings per year; and any other duties assigned by the MOAA President or Board of Directors.
The selection process will involve a review of candidates by the current Board of Directors prior to the Symposium in June at the Gaylord National in Washington D.C. When reviewing candidates, consideration will be given to the following areas:
- Conference Affiliation
- Geographic Location
- Divisional Affiliation (Divisions I (FBS, FCS, I-AAA), II, III, NAIA, Junior/Community Colleges)
- Previous involvement in MOAA
- Ability to dedicate the necessary amount of time to serve on the Board
