MOAA Launches Professional Development Mentorship Program

CLEVELAND - The Minority Opportunities Athletic Association’s (MOAA) Board of Directors is excited to announce that applications for its mentorship program are now open.  We are seeking members who are interested in participating as a mentor or a mentee in 2018-19.  The deadline to apply is Monday, April 30.

Objective: To motivate, empower, and encourage professionals seeking to enhance their career within athletics. The program is geared to be a support system with the ability to bridge the gap between novice and experienced professionals, as well as developing professionals through a series of enriched learning opportunities

Eligibility: Open to all current MOAA members

Requirements:

  • Mentor:
    • MOAA member
    • Working in athletics (5 plus years of experience)
    • Commit to all components of the program
    • Ability to communicate with mentee on a scheduled basis
    • Provide mentee with professional/career development
  • Mentee:
    • MOAA member for at least 1 year
    • Completion of Mentorship Application
    • Working in athletics
    • Commit to all components of the program
    • Ability to communicate with mentor on a scheduled basis

For the second year of the MOAA Professional Development Mentorship Program, the target number of accepted applicants will consist of ten participants for a total of 5 pairings.

Once all applications have been received, the mentorship committee will review and pair mentors and mentee accordingly.

Applicants will receive notifications at the beginning of May, and the program will begin with a mentor/mentee meet and greet on June 27 in conjunction with the MOAA Symposium.
