Shamaree Brown - Atlantic Coast Conference

Why did you join MOAA?
I was encouraged to join MOAA early in my career as an organization to connect and network with other administrators.

If you hadn’t chosen a profession in athletics, what would your profession be?
I would likely have a career in finance or men's fashion.

What is one of the greatest aspects of being involved in athletics?
One of the greatest aspects of athletics is its diversity. Diversity in its participants in all sports, diversity of the experiences that student-athletes and administrators receive, and diversity in the education it provides to everyone involved.

What is the theme song playing in your head when you have to get something tough done?
Right now my go to theme song is "You Will Win" by Jekalyn Carr.

If you could spend one day with a sports figure, dead or alive, who would it be? Why?
I would love to spend a day with Jim Brown to learn from him about his time as an athlete in the Jim Crow era and hear about all of his other life experiences.

What is your favorite movie? Why?
Remember the Titans... it's my favorite sports movie.

What is the last thing someone has come back and thanked you for professionally?
A former intern thanking me for making an introduction and reference to someone who later offered her a job.

Best thing your mentor told you?
"There is a responsibility to pull someone up with you as you climb up the ladder of your career."

Fill in the blank: I wished I would have_______.
