McLendon Foundation Dues Hits $75,000 Mark; Kansas Contributes $10,000

CLEVELAND - In June 2009, the Division I-A McLendon Scholarship Steering Committee voted to implement voluntary dues for 2009-10. The dues will help fund the yearly $10,000 McLendon Scholarships that are awarded to minority individuals looking to pursue a career in athletics administration.

To date, a total of 95 institutions have sent in voluntary dues, including 51 non-Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) institutions. In addition, six conference offices have participated in the dues program.

The following Division I institutions have contributed monies: Akron, Alabama, Albany, Army, Auburn, Boston College, Brigham Young, Buffalo, Cal State Fullerton, UCLA, California Santa Barbara, Central Florida, Central Michigan, Clemson, Cleveland State, Connecticut, Delaware, Detroit Mercy, Duke, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Fairfield, Florida, Florida State, Fordham, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Holy Cross, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Marist, Marquette, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri, Missouri Kansas City, Morgan State, Navy, New Jersey Institute of Technology, New Mexico State, North Carolina Central, North Dakota State, North Texas, Northeastern, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Ohio State, Oklahoma, San Diego, Sacred Heart, San Jose State, Seattle, South Carolina, South Dakota State, South Florida, Southern California, Southern Utah, St. Francis (NY), Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Texas, Texas Tech, Tulsa, Vanderbilt, Vermont, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wichita State and Wisconsin.

The following Division II institutions and conference offices have contributed monies: Abilene Christian, California San Diego, Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Central State, Grand Valley State, Heartland Conference, Holy Family and Texas A&M Commerce.

The following Division III/NAIA/JC/CC and conference offices have contributed monies: Brookdale CC, Christopher Newport, City University of New York Athletic Conference, DeAnza College, Dillard, Embry Riddle Aeronautical, Huntingdon, Jarvis Christian, Lindenwood, Mary Hardin-Baylor, UMASS Boston, Oberlin, Ohio Athletic Conference, North Coast Athletic Conference, Rhode Island, Richard Stockton, South Plains, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, Southwestern, Tougaloo, Wellesley and Wittenberg.

The dues structure is as follows: $1,000 for FBS institutions; $500 for FCS and Division I institutions; $250 for Division II institutions; and $100 for Division III, NAIA, and Junior/Community colleges.
