2009-10 DII ADA Lifetime Achievement Nomination Forms are no longer being accepted

CLEVELAND - The Division II Athletics Directors Association (DII ADA) has launched the nomination process for the DII ADA Lifetime Achievement Award presented by WeatherPORT. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to an athletics director who has exemplified superior achievement during his/her career at the Division II level. The deadline to submit nominations for the 2009-10 award is Monday, December 14.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious award presented by the DII ADA. To be eligible for this award, a person must be at least 60 years old, or have spent at least 25 years in collegiate athletics, with a majority of those years as an AD. The honoree may be currently in the profession or retired. The DII ADA President and officers will serve as the Lifetime Achievement Awards Selection Committee.

California State University Bakersfield Director of Athletics Rudy Carvajal, and former Rollins College Director of Athletics, Phil Roach, were the inaugural recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.

"We are excited to launch year two of the DII ADA Lifetime Achievement Award," stated DII ADA President Ed Matejkovic, director of athletics at West Chester University. "We now have the ability to honor deserving individuals with an award that is meaningful to what they have done for the Division II community."

The Lifetime Achievement Award will recognize an AD who, over the course of his/her career, has made an exemplary contribution to Division II athletics and the student-athlete experience. Contributions include, but are not limited to: serving on NCAA committees; involvement in conference and/or Division II initiatives, NACDA and DII ADA; sport program development and success; commitment to gender equity and minority/diversity opportunities; commitment to rules compliance; the overall leadership of his/her program; and the commitment to the Division II philosophy.
