David Williams currently serves as the athletics director at Missouri Western University. He has hit the ground running at Missouri Western as there are already plans for facility improvements such as SGA Stadium (the new on-campus home of Griffon Baseball), improvements to the visitor sideline at Spratt Stadium and the Griff Zone (interactive student lounge in the Looney Complex).

Prior to Missouri Western, Williams was an assistant basketball coach at North Dakota State and later served as the top assistant basketball coach at Wisconsin-Parkside (UW-P). In addition, Williams was the head men's golf coach at Parkside, prior to accepting the athletics director position in January of 2001.

During his tenure at Wisconsin-Parkside, Ranger athletics enjoyed a plethora of success. Under Williams' administration, 12 of 15 Ranger sports qualified for NCAA postseason appearances. UW-P teams won 10 Great Lakes Valley Conference championships in six different sports. In addition, the grade point average of the UW-Parkside student-athletes was consistently higher than the student body at-large. UW-P student-athletes routinely exceeded the 3.0 GPA mark each semester.

Facility improvements during Williams' reign were prominent. The Sports and Activities Center saw a facelift in the form of new state-of-the-art scoreboards and the first videoboard in the region. The baseball and softball field's have new scoreboards and in 2006, the baseball field saw new dugouts sprout. Oberbruner Field, home of Ranger baseball, has seats from the former Milwaukee County Stadium, which housed the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers for decades. A new outfield fence was also erected under Williams' administration.

Williams lured a number of high-profile events to the UW-Parkside campus including the NCAA Division I fencing national championship and the NCAA Division II national wrestling championship. The NAIA national cross country championship is a staple on UW-Parkside's cross country course as is the Footlocker Regional Championships. In addition, UW-Parkside has hosted a multitude of conference and regional championships in several sports.

He is a graduate of Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois with a degree in education. He earned a master's degree in educational administration from North Dakota State University, Fargo, North Dakota. In August of 2006, Williams was elected as president of the Division II Athletics Directors Association (DII ADA) from 2006-2008.
