Player Profile

Last College:
Virginia Union University

Position:
Athletics Director

In 2001, Michael Bailey was chosen as Virginia Union University's athletics director. As the athletics director, Bailey has made major improvements in the athletics facilities and administrative support services for the student-athletes. During the spring of 2003, Bailey was named Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) Athletics Director of the Year. Along with his duties as athletics director, Bailey is also the vice president of the CIAA Eastern Division.

Bailey joined Virginia Union's coaching staff in the spring of 1995 under Head Coach Willard Bailey. During that time the Panther's program had just completed a dismal 1-9 season and the rebuilding of the football program would soon begin.

Coach Bailey planted a solid foundation and within the next two seasons put VUU's football program back on track. Subsequently, the football program managed to have five consecutive winning seasons topping off with a CIAA Championship in the fall of 2001. As assistant head coach and offensive coordinator, the VUU rushing attack led the CIAA four out of five seasons. He coached VUU all-time leading rusher Andre Braxton (97-2000) who scored 27 touchdowns in his career.

Bailey is currently the head coach at Virginia Union and serves on the board of directors for the Division II Athletics Directors Association.
