Grand Valley State (Mich.) Takes the Lead in the Fall Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND - After the completion of six NCAA Championships, Grand Valley State (Mich.) currently sits atop the Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup fall standings. The Lakers finished second in women's soccer and placed third in both men's and women's cross country for a total of 260 points.

Chico State (Calif.) is in second with 257 total points. The Wildcats scored in four championships, finishing third in women's soccer, fourth in men's cross country, seventh in women's cross country and 17th in men's soccer.

Tampa (Fla.) is in third with 224 total points, after finishing third in women's volleyball, fifth in women's soccer, 16th in women's cross country and 24th in men's cross country.

Six of the seven fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women's soccer - St. Rose (N.Y.); men's soccer - Fort Lewis (Colo.); women's volleyball - Concordia (Minn.); women's field hockey - West Chester (Pa.); men's cross country - Western State (Colo.); women's cross country - Augustana (S.D.).

Washington
University (Mo.) Takes Lead in 2011-12 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings; NESCAC Places Three Institutions in the Top Five

CLEVELAND
- Washington University (Mo.) is in first place with 372 points in the second set of fall standings of the 2011-12 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup.  The Bears earned their spot atop the standings by scoring in five of the six championships conducted to date.  They finished first in women's cross country, third in men's cross country, fifth in women's soccer, ninth in volleyball and 17th in men's soccer.

Middlebury (VT.) is in second place with 359 points.  Middlebury placed second in both women's cross country and field hockey, ninth in women's soccer and volleyball, and 13th in men's cross country.

In third place with 264 points is Amherst (Mass.). The Lord Jeffs finished in fifth place in field hockey and women's soccer, ninth in men's soccer and 11th in women's cross country.

To date, six fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women's soccer - Messiah (Pa.); men's soccer - Ohio Wesleyan; volleyball - Wittenberg (Ohio); women's cross country - Washington (Mo.); men's cross country - North Central (Il.); field hockey - The College of New Jersey.
