George Mason Head Men's Basketball Coach Jim Larranaga will be the featured speaker on Tuesday, June 20, at NATYCAA's Annual Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Larranaga helped his team to a banner year in 2005-06, becoming the first coach in 27 years to take a team from a mid-major institution to the NCAA Final Four. He also led the Patriots to a university record in wins (28), the institution's first-ever national ranking and appearance in the top-10 and its first victories over top-10 teams.

George Mason, which was awarded an at-large berth to NCAA tournament, became the first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) institution to make it to the Final Four, and its number eight ranking in the final USA Today/ESPN poll was the highest-ever for a CAA institution.

Larranaga became the university's all-time leader in men's basketball victories in 2005 and became the conference career wins leader last season. In nine seasons at George Mason, he owns a 166-105 record and has posted a mark of 364-274 in 22 years as a head coach.

Prior to coming to George Mason, Larranaga was the head coach at Bowling Green State University for 11 years and at American International University for two seasons.

A native of Bronx, N.Y., Larranaga is a 1971 graduate of Providence College with a degree in economics. He was a four-year letterwinner in basketball for the Friars and was inducted into the Providence College Hall of Fame in 1991.
