ORLANDO - The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) has announced Wichita State University as its 2012-13 Marketing Team of the Year Award (MTOYA) recipient, sponsored by row27. The winner was announced during the Kickoff session at the 22nd Annual NACMA Convention in Orlando, Florida.
"This is a much deserved award for the Wichita State marketing team," said NACMA President Greg Herring, assistant athletics director/marketing & sales at Northern Illinois University. "The entire department has done an outstanding job with their marketing efforts and NACMA is thrilled to honor them with this prestigious award."
The Marketing Team of the Year Award was created by NACMA to show the significant impact a marketing team has not only on the athletics department, but the campus and surrounding community as well. Wichita State's nomination was centered around the #WATCHUS campaign, which exemplifies the integration between Wichita State Athletics and the community. "We are honored to accept the prestigious 2013 NACMA Marketing Team of the Year award," said John Brewer, assistant AD/ marketing & corporate relations at Wichita State. "It is an important award for the Association and collegiate sports marketing in general, and we are humbled that our peers have selected us as its recipient. Wichita State has had a very special year and this is a great way to cap it off."
In its second year, there were 17 nominations for the MTOYA, spanning across FBS (11), FCS (1), Division I-AAA (3) and non-Division I institutions (2). The two other finalists for the 2013 MTOYA were Iowa State University and Kansas State University.
The selection committee was made up of NACMA Past Presidents, as well as 2 NACDA Past Presidents.
Award recipients will receive the prestigious NACMA MTOYA Trophy to keep in their offices and will be announced and recognized at the NACDA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 14 at the World Center Marriott Resort. The finalists' submissions have been posted on the NACMA Online Library for the membership to view.
