CLEVELAND -- The members of the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA) have selected Lisa Sweany, director of athletics at Armstrong Atlantic State University, to serve as the President for 2012-13. Sweany is just the fourth President of the Association.
CEFMA also elected Dawn Stewart, director of athletics at Otterbein University as the 1st Vice President, Brendan Fouracre, senior associate athletics director for facilities & operations at the University of Cincinnati as the 2nd Vice President; and Tim Wise, senior associate athletics director for facilities & event operations at the University of Miami as the 3rd Vice President for 2012-13.
"CEFMA has continued to grow and prosper since our inaugural Convention in 2009, including a record number of attendees at our 2012 Convention under the leadership of Andrea Williams (Big Ten)," stated Sweany. "Without the support of our members and sponsors, we would not be where we are today. Thank you to everyone that has contributed to making CEFMA the lone association to join to mentor, network and develop leaders in our industry."
In addition to the above named officers, three individuals joined the Board of Directors - Nick Britton, Assistant AD - Event Management at Iowa State University; Bill Givens, associate athletics director/operations & championships at the United States Naval Academy; and Heather Perry, assistant commissioner, sports management & championships at the Pac-12 Conference.
Britton, Givens and Perry join Donyale Canada, associate commissioner - women's basketball operations & sport programs, Mid-American Conference; Mickey Guridy, senior associate athletics director - internal operations, Liberty University; Suzy Mason, associate athletics director - event management/facilities & operations, University of Arizona; and Michael Snyder, assistant director of athletics for internal operations at Oberlin College on the Board.
CEFMA held its 4th Annual Convention, June 23-25 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas, in conjunction with the 47th Annual National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Convention. Disney Institute's Tom Thomson, operations and delivery manager, served as the Association's Keynote Speaker. The 5th Annual CEFMA Convention will take place June 11-13 at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida.
