Suzy Mason joined the Arizona staff as a graduate student in Event Management in 1995. She interned for the National Senior Olympics and assisted with hosting 18 NCAA and Pac-10 Championships. Mason and her staff coordinate efforts with departmental, campus, and community entities to maximize the fan experience at Arizona athletics events. Filling various event management roles for five years, Mason was elevated to director of event operations in August 2000. From August 2000-2004, Mason served as director of event operations overseeing event planning and game day management for Arizona athletics. Specifically, she directly oversaw gameday operations for football and men's basketball and other special events associated with the department's intercollegiate sports programs. Mason was promoted to assistant ahletics director for event operations in June 2004 when the athletics facilities staff and information technology department began reporting through operations. Currently, Mason is on the Board of Directors for One on One Partners, Inc. a Tucson mentoring association and serves as a member of the Tucson Fiesta Bowl Committee. She also represents the department on the Campus Community Relations Committee and the University Working Group. Mason was raised in Canandaigua, NY and earned a bachelor's of science degree in Communication from Cornell University in 1994. She completed her master's in exercise and sports science at Arizona in 1996. She is married to Marvin Mason and the couple has two young children, Kate and Drew. |
