Michael Kelly became the Associate Commissioner for Football Operations at the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2007. His responsibilities include management and promotions of the annual football championship game; regular-season conference scheduling; liaison work with the national and regional television networks and post-season bowl partners; and as the commissioner's liaison to the leagues 12 football programs. Kelly also assists with the Bowl Championship Series administrative duties when the league toke over its coordination in January 2008.

Kelly most recently served as the President of the South Florida Super Bowl XLI Host Committee, the same role he played with the Jacksonville Super Bowl XXXIX Host Committee. Previously, Kelly also served as the Executive Director of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl XXXV Host Committee and the 1999 Tampa Bay Men's Final Four Organizing Committee.

Kelly is no stranger to the collegiate ranks serving as the Associate AD for External Affairs at the University of South Florida from 2001-02 and the Director of Athletic Operations and Facilities at Wake Forest University from 1995-98. Kelly acquired bowl experience as well when he served as the Director of Communications and Special Projects for the Carquest Bowl from 1994-95. A graduate of Wake Forest University, Kelly earned his bachelor's degree in politics and then a master's degree in sports administration from St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, FL.
