Oct. 18, 2017

Yulander Wells - University of South Florida

Favorite CABMA memory?
I have had several awesome CABMA experiences, but every year I have a special meal outing with some great friends that allows us to catch up, keep each other encouraged and take a breather from the important work all of us in the industry are doing.

Last book you read (title & author)?
Start with Why by Simon Sinek

Favorite Movie?
Coming to America, best movie of all-time HANDS DOWN!!

Instagram or Twitter?
Twitter

Most memorable sporting event attended?
The 1996-97 Chicago Bulls NBA Championship Game 6. I was fortunate enough to actually be working that game at the United Center in the 200 level and had a great view of the pass and shot to win the game. I was stationed at row A so I had a perfect view of the entire game. I even got a chance to see a portion of the post-game press conference.

Favorite Quote?
I can't say that I have a favorite quote because I don't really seek them out. I just try to grab on to little nuggets here and there when I hear them at those times. But if I had to choose the one that encompasses it all for me I would go with "I have a dream" from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I have a lot of dreams and things that I want to accomplish and these dreams are not just for myself.

What is one of the greatest aspects of being involved in athletics?
Being able to be around sports all the time and helping young people pursue their dreams and goals, both academically and athletically. At USF we have many first generation college students and it is such an amazing experience to congratulate the students and their families. The students come from all walks of life and areas of the world.

Best piece of professional advice you've received?
Go after what it is I want, but learn how to be patient and understand the lessons you learn on the way.
