CABMA Announces 2017 Award Winners

CLEVELAND – The College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) announced the recipients of its Emerging Leader, Manager of the Year, George Eldridge Distinguished Service, and Associate Member Service Awards. The winners were recognized at the 2017 CABMA Convention, held June 9-12 at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida.

"On behalf of CABMA and the Executive Committee, I am proud to announce our 2017 Award Winners," stated Omar Banks, CABMA president and senior associate athletics director at Virginia Tech. "We are honored to present these awards to each of these deserving individuals who set the benchmark for excellence in our industry through their leadership and character."

Emerging Leader Award

Awarded to a member of CABMA who has demonstrated a desire and commitment to work for the betterment of the profession of intercollegiate athletics through CABMA committee involvement.

Winner: Tim McCleary, Director of Budget and Finance, University of Minnesota

Manager of the Year
CABMA’s Manager of the Year is chosen annually by the membership from nominations of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the profession of athletics business management and who are CABMA members.

George Eldridge Distinguished Service Award
The George Eldridge Distinguished Service Award is presented to members or former members of CABMA who have been an active member for a period of 10 years and who have demonstrated outstanding service to CABMA and/or the field of intercollegiate athletics.

Associate Member Service Award

Associate Members are individuals who, in the opinion of the Executive Committee, have a strong interest in the objectives and programs of CABMA, but who do not meet the criteria for Regular Members.

Winner: Winthrop Intelligence
