CABMA Launches 2018-19 Mentor Me Program Application Process

May 7, 2018

CLEVELAND – CABMA is now accepting applications for the 2018-19 Mentor Me Program, presented by Relation Insurance Services.

Mirrored after the United States Coast Guard Academy's Leadership program, Mentor Me is designed to foster professional career and personal growth, as well as encourage an organizational commitment to CABMA by connecting members, empowering them with knowledge, and ultimately allowing them to grow and lead.  The yearlong program, beginning at the 2018 Convention in Washington D.C., will pair an experienced athletic business professional (deemed First Line Mentors) with a young professional in the industry (deemed a protégé). All First Line Mentors are certified by the United States Coast Guard Academy's Institute for Leadership and receive in-depth training in mentoring techniques and leadership principles.

To be eligible for the program, a prospective protégé must:

  • Be a current, dues-paying member of CABMA
  • Have/make plans to attend both the 2018 & 2019 CABMA Conventions
  • Be willing and able to schedule and complete at least 4 calls/meetings with his/her assigned mentor throughout the course of the year
  • Be willing to initiate conversation about challenges/opportunities, questions, career trends, etc.
  • Be teachable
  • Be consistent and follow through
  • Establish goals

Protégés will be selected for the 2018-19 program based on the responses outlined within their application.
