Question:

Is anyone having success classifying a head equipment manager or assistant sports information directors as exempt? Any ideas on how to get this done would be greatly appreciated.

For the most part, any of our staff who are the "head" of a distinct business unit (e.g. team, eq. room, etc.) AND they supervise at least 2 regular staff, we are exempting under the "Executive" category. For virtually everyone who is an asst. something (e.g. asst. SID), we are working with our univ. HR dept. to get the job descriptions updated, etc.

Our Assistant SID is categorized as an "Information Specialist", and is an exempt position. In order to be exempt, this position had to supervise someone. This position says that "functional supervision may be exercised over one to two office support or student employees". This position supervises a grad assistant that works with Sports Information.
