PDI Faulty Listing

N4A is excited to launch the 14th annual Steve McDonnell Professional Development Institute (PDI)! Named after the program's founder, PDI's mission is to create and maintain a learning community that transmits, creates, and preserves the knowledge that defines the profession. After completion of the program, PDI continues to educate its graduates as it is designed to provide continuous professional development.

The 2018 PDI will be held from June 22-24, preceding the 2018 N4A National Convention. PDI and Convention will both be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Washington, DC.

The 2018 PDI will host two tracks:

  • Leader/Manager
This track is designed for professionals who have been recently hired or have demonstrated the potential to serve as a director of a student-athlete support service unit within the next one to three years.  CLICK HERE for additional information on the Leader/Manager track.

  • Student-Athlete Development
Throughout this track, professionals will have an opportunity to look deeply at the challenges and issues they face in their athletics departments, and the expertise and solutions necessary for implementing programs to address them.  CLICK HERE for additional information on the Student-Athlete Development track.

To ensure that the 2018 PDI is a great success, the Institute will provide recognized faculty from higher education and athletics communities, all meals, program materials, and continuing education in the form of mentoring and distance learning. If selected, the enrollee or his/her institution will be responsible for travel and lodging costs associated with the 2 ½ day workshop.

If you are interested in applying for PDI, please complete ALL of the following by Friday, December 1:

  • Completed Application Form
  • Current Resume
  • Letter of Recommendation/Nomination from your current Supervisor/Director
  • One-page personal statement (350 words maximum) explaining why being a participant in the N4A PDI is significant to you.  Specifically, how you feel your participation in PDI will support your professional aspirations.
