FAQ's

Why did NACMA organize a formal mentoring program?
NACMA is dedicated to the growth and advancement of women in sports marketing, whether they are emerging professionals or seasoned executives. It is often a challenge to reach out for assistance and guidance and we wish to provide our members with access to positive role models to assist in their professional growth.

What is the Female Mentoring Program?
This is a member benefit provided by NACMA as a way for women to connect with one another and discuss relative topics facing women in collegiate athletics.

NACMA focuses on helping people in collegiate sports marketing, how could I benefit as a member of your group?
Our members are a focused and motivated pool of professionals that are dedicated to improving both their technical and business skills. Although we have some members who are interested in a mentor to assist with their technical skills, most are looking for guidance with improving their business skills, interpersonal skills, political skills, and general professional development.

How do I get matched with someone?
The NACDA head office works hard to match women with similar interests and who work in similar fields. The more information you can provide on your form, the better the match will be.

What is the time commitment?
We ask that you speak on a quarterly basis for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. It is suggested that the mentor set up the first call and the mentee set up the following calls thereafter.

Do you provide any assistance in conversation starters/ice breakers?
We do. We will provide several topics throughout the program which you may find helpful during your conversations.

Who is supposed to contact who?
The mentor should make the initial contact, but it is up to the mentee to follow up with conversation dates.
