Our firm was founded in 1911 as the Continental Agency Company. Through aggressive internal growth and the acquisition of other agencies, we quickly became one of the largest independent agencies in Utah. The company was purchased by an international brokerage firm in 1980 and continued growth under their auspices. In March of 1996, to better utilize our experience in sports, group accident insurance, professional liability and association programs, a core number of our original employee group left the brokerage house and formed a new independent agency.

One of the final segments in our long-term planning strategy took place in December of 2000. This phase is the merger of our sports marketing, claims and administration into P5 e.Health Services Inc., a leader in internet solutions for the healthcare industry. This merger allows us full access to their state of the art proprietary claims systems and the opportunity to utilize their new-generation technology in other areas of our sports operations.

Our Sports and Special Risk group came into being in 1969 when we were appointed administrator for the intercollegiate accident insurance plans offered to members of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). In 1989, we added similar plans for the National Intramural- Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). To this date, we remain corporate partners and managing insurance administrators for both Associations.

We are responsible for developing and maintaining insurance programs for both associations and provide full in-house claims service for all sponsored products. It has remained our philosophy to totally support any program sold with caring, personalized and professional service. One of our many innovations in the collegiate sports market in the early '90's was to inaugurate managed care and a nation-wide Preferred Provider network (PPO); we constantly investigate new approaches to stabilizing insurance costs in the ever-fluctuating athletic insurance arena.

The entire Sports and Special Risk staff is trained to discuss your insurance needs, analyze policy wording, offer claims review and problem solving. Marketing, administration and claims are not separate departments, but work as a unit to make sure our client's needs are consistently met with responsive and knowledgeable service.

Our group has the longest continuous service involvement with student athletics. To best serve the insurance and risk management requirements of our accounts, we bring together our combined experience in athletic-related insurance and the professional skills and knowledge of our staff and the staff of our selected carriers.

In January 1997, the Specialty Programs Department joined with P5 Sports & Special Risk to provide specialized accident insurance plans for the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). Through our partnership, we continue to provide NACDA members with a sports insurance program which provides solid accident protection for teams, sports camps and clinics.
