Carly Newlands, a native of Fort Collins, Colorado, is a graduate of Colorado. She received her undergraduate degree from the School of Arts and Sciences in economics with an emphasis in business. A member of the track and field team, Newlands competed in the shot put and discus. She completed her collegiate career placing sixth in the Big 12 Conference and 26th nationally in the shot put. Newlands was SAAC president for two years and was chair of the Big 12 Conference SAAC Committee. She attended the NCAA Leadership Conference in Orlando in 2005, was a member of the Athletics Director Search Committee and organized many community service events in the athletics department. She received the 2006 Buffalo Award of Distinction, given to a student-athlete for outstanding contributions to his or her team, their peers and the overall athletics department. She was also presented with the 2006 Strength and Conditioning Award. Newlands aspires to be an athletics director at a Division I university. Newlands works with the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA), the National Association of Athletics Development Directors (NAADD), the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletics Administrators (NATYCAA) and the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA). She is also involved with the Coca-Cola Community All-Americans program and the Daily Review. She can be reached at intern@nacda.com.
