Division II Scoring Update
New Leader Sits Atop the NACDA Directors' Cup Division II Standings As the Winter Season Ends

Cleveland, Ohio - As the winter championship season comes to a close, South Dakota State University has jumped to the top of the NACDA Directors' Cup standings for the first time in the history of the program for Division II.
On the strength of its national championship in women's basketball, South Dakota State closed out the winter season with 554 points. The Jackrabbits also placed 10th in women's indoor track and field and men's wrestling, 17th in men's basketball and 18th in men's indoor track and field. Grand Valley State (Mich.) moved into second with 498 points. The Lakers placed seventh in women's indoor track and field, 19th in men's swimming, 20th in women's swimming and 33rd in women's basketball. They are followed by UC-Davis, in third with 469 points; Western State (Col.), fourth with 468.5 points; and Cal State-Bakersfield, in fifth with 453.5 points.
These are the final winter standings and includes the sports of fencing, skiing, and women and men's basketball, swimming and indoor track and field; and men's ice hockey and wrestling. In addition to South Dakota State, winning national championships were Northeastern State (Okla.) in men's basketball; Truman State (Mo.) in women's swimming; Drury (Mo.) in men's swimming; St. Augustine's (N.C.) in women's indoor track and field; Abilene Christian (Tex.) in men's indoor track and field; and Central Oklahoma in men's wrestling. The highest Division II finish in the National Collegiate (cross divisional) sports of fencing and skiing were Wayne State (Mich.), 17th; and Alaska-Anchorage, ninth respectively.
The NACDA Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women's and seven men's. Each national champion receives 100 points.
