Introduction
Your institution's recognition event is an excellent opportunity to recognize, celebrate and applaud student-athletes who are making a difference in their communities. Here are a few thoughts and ideas to help you get started in recognizing your institution's Coca-Cola Community All-American.

Timing
Ideally, it would be best to recognize your Coca-Cola Community All-American with an event in the spring after they are selected. If they are a returning student, another option would be to recognize them in the fall. You might want to consider how busy the end of the year is for students with finals exams and graduation for seniors. If your Coca-Cola Community All-American is a graduating senior, they also could be recognized in the fall as an alumnus, which would fit in nicely with homecoming activities.

The seven national Coca-Cola Community All-Americans will be announced in the summer of 2007 at the annual NACDA Convention.

Event ideas
•Campus / community outreach pep rally hosted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

•Halftime ceremony during the homecoming football game

•Connecting your recognition event with a community-related promotion at a campus sporting event - such as:
· Recycle Night - bring a newspaper to recycle and get in for $2.00
· Toys for Tots - bring a new toy for Toys for Tots and get in for $2.00
· Can the Opposing Team - make a canned food donation to a campus area food bank and get in for $2.00
· Big Brother / Big Sister Night - all little brothers and sisters get in for free when their big brother or sister purchases a ticket
· Institution Spirit Night - make a donation of clothing in your institution colors to the Salvation Army and get in for $2.00.
· Youth Team Day - all youth athletics teams will get in for $1.00 each
· Scout Day - all boy and girl scouts will get in FREE
· Reading Day - donate a children's book to Reading Is Fundamental and get in for $2.00
